Description

Renew Gold For Senior Horses is an extruded pellet product that is designed to provide a broad spectrum of nutritional support. I give it to horses that experience common issues associated with the effects of aging, high stress or prior injury. First of all, there are a number of applications for both senior aged horses. In fact, performance horses that are under high stress or have had a structural injury may need supplements. With increased digestive aid and joint health support, Renew Gold For Senior Horses is designed to address these issues. I use Renew Gold for older horses that are still active and have a high workload. Non-GMO, no corn, wheat or soy.

Renew Gold Senior provides high digestible energy while maintaining controlled starch levels. Digestible energy is 1.8 Mcal/ pound with a fat level of 16.5%. Plus the Starch level is 15%. The total starch contribution to the diet at recommended feed rates is approximately 34 grams to 68 grams per day. This is based on the one half pound to one pound daily feeding recommendation. I include it with a well-balanced diet. Plus I make sure there is quality roughage and minimal additional feed concentrates.

Grain-based concentrates should be limited to two pounds per feeding or less. If grass hays or pasture are the primary sources of roughage, depending on the quality of that grass, an additional source of alfalfa cubes or long hay (several pounds morning and night) may enhance roughage digestion. Older horses that are currently on a Complete Feed due to mouth and teeth issues can continue with that program. Renew Gold Senior Support can simply be added to the current program. The soft extruded pellets of this product easily transform to a meal form in the mouth and require very little chewing to do so.

Can I feed it with Original Renew Gold? Yes, I can add Senior Support to Original Renew Gold at a rate of one half pound per day.

I recommend adding horse supplements to your horse’s grain! First, I may mix it with a small amount of vegetable oil. This changes the flavor and texture, also making the equine supplement stick to your horse’s grain better. This ensures they can’t eat around it. These nutrients include Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Omega 3 fatty acids. Also, if I have to feed him less grain, then he’ll be getting less vitamins, minerals and protein  Furthermore, if either of these situations is true, I know my horse may need a supplement.

First off, a joint supplement is a solid investment for an active horse. While I may be able to get by with a smaller dose or less aggressive formula, I don’t recommend completely stopping. Horse’s joints may undergo less stress when not riding and training. I know my horse’s joints will still experience daily wear and tear. Also, completely stopping a joint supplement means that when I start it up again, I may have to use a loading dose to build the levels of key ingredients back up in your horse’s body. For this reason, I continue the maintenance dose through the winter and keep the levels of Glucosamine, Chondroitin sulfate, HA, MSM and other ingredients in the therapeutic range.

Electrolytes
By all means,  I provide electrolytes year-round to my horse. In my free time, I have read research that has shown that a horse needs a balanced diet. In addition, I add the right mix of vitamins and other nutrients, and supplemented as necessary. As a result, this supports optimum health and and I know it meets the higher nutritional needs of equine athletes. This is vital to performance.

Hoof Supplement
For one thing, maybe your horse hoofs have cracks or chips easily. Maybe he doesn’t hold shoes well or has thin walls. Basically, these issues are not going to get any better with rest. It’s important to realize, I must continue to provide the building blocks of healthy feet for a few months. Otherwise, I will have to spend more time and money replenishing their levels when you decide to add them back.

Finally, my advice is to carefully consider why I put my horse on these particular supplements. I determine if the issues I am trying to address “go away” during the winter because I ride and show less. The bottom line is that the purpose of supplements is to supplement my horse’s regular diet in those areas where he needs additional support. What may seem like a good idea now, may create unnecessary challenges for me and my horse next spring. As I gear up for another season of riding and showing, I always stay prepared and keep my horses healthy.
